“Light Up the Night”
Dinner Dance Fundraiser
at
Harris’ Pelham Inn
March 26th 7pm
Salem Youth Baseball is excited to be hosting an event that is not only going to be a great night out, but an important fundraising function for the league as well. Our league has made tremendous improvements to Michele Park through fundraising and countless volunteer man hours to make it one of the finest youth sport facilities in the state.
We are hosting this night to celebrate the hard work that our volunteers dedicate to the league and children of Salem, and to raise funds to keep registration fees manageable and to help pay for these past and future improvements. The theme of our dinner is “Light Up the Night,” meant to showcase our latest endeavor, the recently installed lights on our most utilized field.
We have a great function hall, a DJ with a portion of the night dedicated to a "Baseball Idol" karaoke contest, delicious food, raffle items, silent auction and a sports memorabilia auction. The current list of items in our raffle/auction include:
- Sambat MLB Replica Wooden Bat
- David Ortiz Baseball

posted 01/01/2010 REMINDER: The final date for online registration for the 2010 spring season is TODAY, February 15th.
(NOTE: If you have already registered, please ignore this e-mail.)
As part of our preparation for the upcoming spring baseball season we will be forecasting our leagues and teams prior to the annual tryout dates. What this means is that anyone who waits until tryouts to register for the season will be put on a waiting list. Being on this waiting list does not guarantee a spot in the league. Players on the waiting list will be called on a first come first serve basis. In past years we have had a growing number of participants that wait until tryouts to register and unfortunately we cannot continue to operate this way.
With that said, we please ask that if you haven't already and plan to, that you register as soon as possible to make sure that your child's registration is included in the numbers used in planning our league this year.
As is currently the case, we have a late registration fee of an additional $25 after February 15th. If you do wait until tryouts and get on the waiting list the late fee increases to $40.
Online registration is now open to all residents of Salem (ages 5-16), Derry (ages 13-16) and Atkinson (13-16) through February 15th. The cost is $125 for the first child, $75 for a second, and a cap of $230 per family. After February 15th, a late fee will apply. And after February 28th, any unpaid registrants will be removed from the system.
A working e-mail address and access to your e-mail in-box is needed to complete the registration process.

REMINDER: IT'S NOT TOO LATE!
Salem Youth Baseball is proud to announce its 6th annual Winter Workout Program at Play Ball in Salem, NH. This ten-week program is designed for Little Leaguers aged six through thirteen. The program will run every Saturday, from January 16th to March 20th. The time will be from 3pm-4:30pm, and the cost is $95 per player.
To sign up you can call Play Ball at 898-0332, email info@goplayball.com or go in person to Play Ball at 16 Industrial Way.
Last year's program was the best yet as the main staffing was handled by Play Ball's staff! The goal of the ten-week clinic is to provide our athletes the opportunity to learn and improve their skills in preparation for the upcoming spring season while having fun.
Here is the program's structure:
- Each week will begin with a "featured guest speaker" who will discuss a "topic of the week" (hitting, fielding, pitching, throwing, mental approach, sportsmanship, base running etc...). The guest list will include:
* Dean Borrelli (former 8-year pro player)
* Steve Pallazolo (current San Francisco Giants pitcher)
* Al Mottram (former 5 year pro)
* Mike Chambers (former Boston Red Sox player)
* Various other high school and college coaches/players
- The ballplayers will run through various drill stations, working on the skills needed to become an effective baseball player.
- Play Ball's professional will run the majority of the program, insuring proper technique
For questions, please call Play Ball at 603-898-0332 .

posted 04/10/2008 If you are in the market for a new non-wood bat for your 6-12-year-old, please be aware of a new Little League rule that goes into effect in 2009:
"Beginning with the 2009 season, non-wood bats used in divisions of Little League (league age 12 years old and younger) shall be printed with a BPF (bat performance factor) of 1.15 or less."
In addition, Little League rules state that the barrel of the bat should be no more than 2 1/4" and no more than 33 inches in length.
NOTE: If you are purchasing a bat for the Babe Ruth level (age 13-16), the maximum barrel diameter is 2 5/8". Little League bats are allowed in Babe Ruth; however, you will probably not want to use one at that level, as the ball does not travel as far with the longer, thinner barrels.
