Welcome to Salem Youth Baseball

IMPORTANT – ALL BASEBALL ACTIVITIES INCLUDING EVALUATIONS HAVE BEEN POSTPONED INDEFINITELY!

Baseball is Coming Back!!

We hope you all are enjoying your Memorial Day Weekend.  The weekend started off with some exciting news when Governor Sununo provided direction on the return of Youth Sports.  With this announcement came a mountain of guidelines that are to be followed and put in place. We are already working on how we can put everything together and get the kids of Salem back on the baseball fields!  The guidelines have been posted to our website and can be found here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.leagueathletics.com/Text/Documents/2342/73356.pdf

We plan to meet as Board on Tuesday evening and discuss our approach on how to return to baseball activities in Salem.  We will provide an update to everyone following that meeting on how the 2020 season may look to start.

Play Ball!

Salem Youth Baseball Update

Today, Little League International announced the 2020 Little League World Series has been canceled.  Disappointing news for certain, but with that cancellation also came hope that we can play baseball in Salem, or even have all star games in our District.  LLI continues to hold May 11th as the day where local leagues can start to play ball.  We will wait to hear how the State will reopen and continue to work with the Town and the Distrcit 1 Administrator to try and move forward some sort of a baseball season in 2020.  The season would extend in to the Summer for certain.

We will continue to offer refunds for any member who requests one, just reach out to me(conweigh77@yahoo.com).  Also, if we have to cancel or alter the season we will offer refunds based on what the season looks like.  If we are forced to cancel there will be full refunds.

We will hold a virtual Board of Directors meeting next Monday to discuss how we can attempt to move forward as the restrictions lift.  We will follow up with any information following that meeting.

Lastly we have been provided free access to online instructional videos that parents can get out in the yard and get the kids playing baseball.  Details are just below.

Thank you, be well and get out in the yard with the kids and play some baseball!

Every League in our district now has access to Big Al’s online training and development programs and resources for all of the Parents and Players for 2020.

The parent programs include…instructional videos of the fundamental skills that player should learn and practice at both the 4-8 year old and 9-12 year old levels.

The online programs also includes a Section called Practice at Home. This section of videos includes lots of fun drills, games and challenges that you can practice at home so you can get stronger and improve your skills all season long. There is also a section on strategy and positional play with roles and responsibilities for every player on the team in a variety of game situations.

These resources will help you and your son or daughter have fun, stay in shape and improve their skills at home over the next few weeks and all season long.
